Title: GT108V Transistors?
Post by: A.Gillies on May 18, 2011, 08:40:18 AM
The datasheet says Hfe is 60-130, good for a Fuzz Face. Is there anything else that I have to look for on the datasheet? Has anyone had any experience with these transistors? Thanks.

I haven't used those, but as I wrote in the other post, my experience has been that most older transistors fall into the lower end of the range.
So, I wouldn't be surprised if you get most in the 50-90 range, which would be only good for Q1. Hopefully, you'll get a good amount in the 100-120 range.

I bought another Russian lot with a range 80 - 150. EVERY SINGLE ONE was between 59 and 88

good luck

Thanks. I'll let you know how it goes.

The transistors arrived a few days ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. The lowest gain I've seen so far has been 70 and the highest so far has been 110, most are 80 to 100. They sound pretty cool as well. When I first tried them in a Fuzz Face I thought they were noisy, but after a few minutes the noise went away. I had been handling the transistors right before I tried them, so does this have something to do with their sensitivity to heat? Anyway, I'm just glad it worked out, and I definitely recommend them to anyone who's thinking about trying them.

Hi
there are several models of *very* good Russian devices - 308s, 313s, 311s.
Now add GT108Vs. Good research.
thanks

Thanks for the report. I have kept my eye on those but hesitated because of the low 10V maximum Ucb rating. Perhaps there is no need to worry?
