A friend drew my attention to this recent thread where Frances Blanche (Ms. Frantone) details her restoration of a UNivibe unit formerly belonging to Jimi Hendrix, but wishing to be played by its current owner.  Nice pics.

Interesting story. I suppose that beat up unit will sell for $100,000 someday.

I'm guessing the properties of old dried-out duct tape glue added a lot of mojo to the sound. 

I actually think my Cool-Cat Vibe sounds pretty "heavenly" too. I think it's just a really iconic-sounding circuit that works really well with guitar.
