A while ago someone was asking about building a fixed wah. Mark had some suggestions for modding RG's telephone voice to make such a beast (in this thread http://www.diystompboxes.com/sboxforum/viewtopic.php?t=25185&highlight=fixed+wah&sid=6d86acf54c8a37a51b7c3e9c1a586b86 ). Since the telephone voice was on my "to build" list anyway I decided to do it with the mods.

Well you've hit another home run Mark. The added pots and range caps (using your better (shunting) cap select switch) make this a great little pedal. Stock it's a one trick pony. Good trick but your mods make it much more versatile (at the cost of more complicated wiring - TANSTAAFL).

I kept the noise generator and added a 500k pot in series with the gain setting resistor in the mixer section. I found that some combinations of settings of the pots combined to give less than unity volume and the pot was easy to add. I had to go through several transistors to find a noisy one and even it didn't give much hiss. The added gain also helped make the hiss louder in the mix when I wanted it.

Interesting. I need to give a try to this circuit sometime.
