finally!   :D   here are links to two pics of my completed b. blender, which i named "erosion" because of the way the water slide decal turned out. :?
actually the decal mellowed over time, so that it's mostly orange peel now.  does that always happen?

seanm's b. blender mixes a buffered input signal with an effects loop. my build is also a buffer with volume control when the snd jack is empty and the blend is all effects loop.  it's a simple buffer at the other blend extreme. all in a 1590b! 8)

this was really fun for me, though it took a long time.  i made my own layout and it was a challenge to fit everything inside the sovtek 1590b clone with 4 jacks, battery, dc jack, led and all.  i enjoyed the puzzles and now am really pleased with the results.  this is a really useful stompbox.  thanks x 1,000 to all the participants of this forum.

Nice one!

I added the mini version of the b.blender to my bass drive so I could add some extra clean sound to my overdriven sound. Even the mini version is a needed addition.
Am learning something new every day here

Congrats, that looks way better than mine! And I built mine in the larger enclosure.

thanks all!  i recommend this project highly.  and after showing it to several friends, i've discovered that they do too. 8) i'm going to have to make a few more. :D

OK, total ingnorant question coming up........

Can this be done passive ? (without the buffer)

I can handle making the bypass box with the led but I have no experience with making any type of circuit board. My idea would be to add a pot and wire the effect to terminal 3, dry signal to terminal 1, and terminal 2 to the output part of the foot switch. (which then goes to the output of the box.)   To make a Dry/blend knob.

If I'm all wrong,  sorry. I'm new to electronics.

i think that's a great question. my very limited understanding is that the buffering keeps the signals going "in the right direction."  there might be some feedback in your passive ckt, even if the effect is buffered.

somebody!  help!  :)

OK, Great !!! (& thanks for joining in on this.)

To add to this passive Bypass box that will have a wet/dry mix knob, and an effect volume knob, I read on this site that you do not need a buffer on any of your effects if you have a BOSS effect being first in the chain. Reason being is because all BOSS effects already have buffers in them.

Is this wishfull thinking, or correct ???

If correct I'm making an 8 loop strip for my board. Each loop will have a wet/dry & Vol. knob.

edit: a passive by-pass makes perfect sense.  that just changes a sequence of single connections.  mixing or blending puts two signals together, which is fundamentally different.  think of the "dry" side of your passive blend as providing both a route "forward" on to the next pedal and as a route "backward" from the output of the blended effect back to its input.

as far as buffering with Boss pedals goes, i suggest you read what jack orman has to say on this topic.  if that article doesn't answer your questions, let's take another crack at them.  it sounds to me like you will want to buffer each wet/dry mix. :?

apparently, most (but not all) Boss pedals do have buffers (sometimes several) in by-pass  mode.  so most Boss pedals will serve as buffers, even when the effects in them are by-passed.
