Converting a Wah into a Volume Pedal

I did a search for this, but couldn't find an answer. Basically, my friend has two wahs, he was wanting me to fix one up, and turn the other into a volume pedal. To turn one into a volume pedal, do I just need to removed the electronics and wire up the inputs and outputs to the pot? Should I get a different pot and if so, what size? Thanks.
