I found a 1994 Maplin "Electronics" magazine which had this article, unusual in that it contains NE571 noise reduction, which may be of interest. If anyone would like the rest of the article I'll scan it later.

Hi Guys
   I have one of these units although it has Psychodelic Wah Wah printed on the bottom. I sort of remember buying it as a kit a long time ago but I can't remember building it. I wasn't on anything at the time but I was infected with Borrelia that aftects the memory. Loss of memory without the trip sucks. It didn't seem much good to me but I was and still am looking for the Shaft sound at the time, you know the clacking that I thought was  generated by moving the wah pedal fast. Needless to say this pedal can't do it but I was wondering if it could be adapted to do it?
Am I correct in assuming the Jim Dunlop CryBaby Wah Wah is the one that generates the Shaft sound? If the Psycho Wah can't be adapted I could build the JD one and found a circuit here.

It could be fitted in the Psycho Wah pedal box that has the mechanisms.

I'm not familiar with the psychadelic wah, but the Shaft theme was recorded with a Maestro Boomerang wah from what I've read.  They are great sounding wahs, I have a buddy's in for repair right now.  Generally, they are a very similar circuit to an old Vox/Crybaby, but different enough to have a unique sound.  One thing I've noticed about old wahs lately, you can often buy nice vintage originals cheaper than you can build one.  Go figure.

Thanks, I had a quick look around for the Maestro Boomerang wah and they are in the £200 range. Reverb have one for £345 which is too much for me. I can make the circuit and stick it in the Psych pedal to get what I want but I was wondering if the Pysch circuit could be altered to do the job. I shall have a look at the circuits and see what the differences are although it might be quicker just to build the Maestro Boomerang wah straight off.
