Pete Moore's "RangePig" build report

Pete posted this up a week or so ago and it's a wonderful circuit.
Built with an OC44 and a 2N3906, I used 47n in/out caps, so it's
a bit more of a full range pig !
Great "twist" on a rangemaster, which has a gorgeous clear sparkle
to it, like a nice "sheen'  to chords/picking.
The 100k trimmer lets you dial in some Ge "grit" or you can leave
it very smooth.
A great "boosting" tool for sure.

  I don't know if it's 'supposed' to work that way but it seems like it does..
  I'd say between piggybacking and darlingtonizing, most low leakage Ge's can have a circuit built around them that makes them worthwhile.
  Of course there are the caveats...
  Best results come from using low leakage transistors.
  Probably not necessary if your transistor has the necessary gain to start with.
  Sure sparked up my Rangemaster, and I'd tried working around that Q in the Rangemaster type circuit and FF's, it sounded 'ok' but just didn't have enough push...now it sounds great and the output of the DarlingRangePig is as good or more than my other Rangemasters.
  Sounds great...very "GE" to my reckoning.
