Hello to all.  I am new to posting,  but have been coming here for a little while.  I am kinda new at this stuff,  the only projects I've done are the AMZ minibooster,  A passive volume control,  A looper box, and Wah mods.  I now feel comfortable to take on my CE-2B.

I have seen all the ce-2 mods,  but some of the stuff doesn't line up for the ce-2b.  I know that my pedal already has E. Level knob. So that one is taken care of.  I basically want the vibrato mod,  and to be able to switch back and forth between bass and guitar modes... if that makes sense.

I guess maybe it would be good to have a question.  Does anybody know how to do mods on a boss ce-2b?

The mods to the CE-2 should apply verbatim to the CE-2B.  The only differences are some part values.  Otherwise it's the same circuit.

Looking at my board compared to ce-2 posted elsewhere it is different to my VERY untrained eye.  Where R-21 is circled on my board it looks to me like r-8.  Could you tell me how I'm Reading it wrong?

It's quite possible that R21 is a different value in the bass version.  I'd have to see the schematic for both.  I don't think I even have the schematic for the bass version.  Wish I did though.

EDIT:  Just found both schematics and R21 is 47k in both the CE-2 and CE-2B.

Im am new to this hope this works.   should it be the middle resistor next to the jrc4558?  You can almost see that it says r-8

vanhansen

It looks like R8 is the one on the right of that grouping of 3, right next to where it says R8.  Check the color code of the middle one.  It should be 47k.  R8 is 100k.

from closest to 4558  it goes 10K,  47k,  100k ...  But on the board there is only the name r-8,  and r-7.  Am I to assume that the middle R that is unnamed is r-21?

sodapop

could you tell me where you got the schems,  or maybe send them to me?   I would be most appreciative.   :)

Yup, that 100K is R8 and that 47K is R21.  The CE-2B and CE-2 use the same board.

I got the schematics from General Guitar Gadgets.

I actually do have them both archived at home.  Couldn't remember since I was replying from work earlier.

The vibrato mod is cool but making things so you can go between guitar/bass version may be a little tricky and there may not be enough room in the enclosure for anything additional.  In my opinion, I'd leave it as it is and just add the vibrato mod.  The bass version sounds really good with guitar, really thick sounding.  I have the BF-2B Bass Flanger and use that with my guitar.  It's very warm sounding.

My site has the info on doing the vibrato mod, which I'm sure you found already.

I agree,  I love the pedal so much,  especially with my guitars that I tune to B flat.  They are almost a bass by then anyway.  Thank you so much for your help.  I think now I need to figure out if I want to be able to switch the pedal on and off with the vibrato switch activated.  While searching for info I came across posts describing that there are 2 way to do the mod.  Have you modded your ce-2b?

vanhansen

I don't have a CE-2 or CE-2B.  My chorus is a CH-1 and while I was gathering mod info for that one, I decided to go ahead and include mod info for the CE-2 as well.  I haven't touched my Bass Flanger, no need to.

The Vibrato/Chorus mod on my side that entails some extra parts allows you to go from wet signal to dry signal in Vibrato mode.  With Vibrato mode off, it's Chorus and the normal activated/bypass works as it normally does.

I've never done a part-by-part comparison, but the only difference I could see in the schems after a good long look was the effect level control on the B.  All of the things you might expect for a bass version, like high and low pass filters on the inputs and outputs were the same that I could see.
