3PDT switching - grounded input?

At the GGG site, I was looking at the wiring schems for the 3PDT switch with LED, both with and without a grounded input.
Is there any noise reducing advantage (i.e. no 'popping') to using the grounded input, or is  a drop-down resistor still the solution?

Thanks,

I think that if you don't ground the output of something really high gain, that it can get through your bypass anyway. My Fuzz Factory, when oscillating, can still be heard when bypassed. That shouldn't be your case though. Popping is either a cap discharging (which is what the pulldown is for) or a faulty switch. Warning, the previous was possibly n00b advice.
