Hi all,

Here is a sample of the Odie from runoffgroove.com

Odie sample (megaupload)

It was recorded with an Ibanez RG270 with DiMarzio Breed (bridge) through the breadboarded Odie into an AVT50 Marshall. I miked it with a cheap dynamic mic into the computer and recorded with Sonar 5.

Let me know what you think?

Cheers,
Shane

BTW, there are some popups at Megaupload that are Not Work Safe.

Night0wl

Thanks for the tip, I usually use File Lodge but their server is playing up at the moment so I opted for megaupload. I will re-upload to File Lodge when they are back online.

Any comments about the Odie?

I just listened to it at home and it sounds real good.  I like it a lot.  What settings did you have the pedal on?

Odie is a fixture in my board. Its switch has a horrible pop at the moment though.. alas.

For the first half of the tune I had Odie's the gain on 5-6 and the tone on 6. When the tune builds up I cranked the gain to full and left the tone on 6.

thanks for the replies guys :)

Iv'e had this schem in my notebook for awhile now.  I think your demo has sealed the deal.  I will be building an Odie soon.  Nice riffs.  Sounded really good.

Thanks for the replies everyone :)

I will definately be boxing the Odie for live use. Does anybody have a vero layout for it? I don't have the etching equipment and vero is my only option at this stage.

Thanks
Shane

I think it was good!
Congrats on the build..

I'm also finishing mine, putting it into the box. It's worth diying one.

I'm happy to hear that builders are enjoying the Odie!  I just want to point out that the circuit was updated recently and some (all?) of the vero layouts are for the older version.

I'd love to hear it, I just get lots of "Porn DVD" advertising pages  !!!! ( well, that's not so bad  :icon_redface:)

I started a new version of the "Odie" a few weeks ago, work has prevented me from finishing just yet, my
first was on perf and was about two years ago - so quite "messy" !!
Great sounding "TS-Killer" though :D

MartyMart, I have another link for the Odie sample.....

Odie sample (right click save as)

Hope this works! :)

BTW, I forgot to mention that the Odie I made was version 1. I didn't realise there was other versions until yesterday!  :icon_redface:

What was updated in the schem?

The output buffer was improved (with certain FETs, it could clip the signal in an unattractive way) and the resistor at Lug 1 of the Drive control was reduced.  Small changes, but they make for a better circuit.

Hi !

I have finished my Odie and have played with it and campared with other overdrives. I've found a lack of bass. It has gone.
Any idea on how to increase the bass response ? I don't want it as a bass overdrive, of course.

I give you the scheme to help thinking about it:

cheers !
