Hey, this is guitarleeman. I had a question about a rare phaser/flanger. It's called an Aries phaser/flanger. I saw the schematic for this and Im puzzled about one of it's components called a PD10. What is that? An optoisolator, delay line? Anybody Know? I was wondering because it looks like a cool build. Hope its not an obsolete part. Also, did I post this topic on the right area of the forum? Still getting the hang of this thing. THANKS

I know the schematic, and that is an actual module composed of its own components.  I have no idea what is inside it.

Nice try, but stick what you found in here: http://www.musicsynthesizer.com/Diode%20Phaser/ar329.jpg  and tell me if it makes any sense.  Nah, my money is riding on PD10 being their inhouse name for a module, maybe even some epoxied blob.  I have two Omnisonic imagers, and both use a delay line of some type but all theschematic shows is what you see when you open them up, some passive components and this plastic block.  :P

I own a Tau 1190 "Pipe" module (doesn't work anymore), but it had two PD-10 modules on the PCB. My guess is that the PD-10 has been discontinued long ago. These were used around 1979 - 1980

They are large black plastic blocks (3" x 1.25" x 1" thk.) with 4 connections (each). I suspect that they are "Transistor/Diode Phase Shift Ladders" - a variation on Moog Ladder Filter technology.

For info check out Grant Richters synth-DIY page at -

I think the schematic for the "ARP Quadra phase shifter" will give you an idea of what's inside of the PD-10, and there is also a pdf of the "Pipe".

Jürgen Haible has a pcb layout & schematic for a  (slightly modified) ARP Quadra 14-stage Phase Shifter (about a 1/3 down the page)

Hope this helps
