I just came up with this today. Took about 3 hours to do. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone did some double checking for me. It's the schematic minus the power supply and off board connections.

I have one question about the circuit, too. once i have this built, if i have a booster in a chain before this, will the booster cause the TL072 to clip, or will the clipping still occur in the tube?

thanks to any second set of eyes!

Link to the schematic you are working from?

I started checking against this one: http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/schems/shaka_tube_redrawn.gif

But I don't think that's what you designed against.

i used this schematic.

it's the same as the one you posted, except this one has a few more of the smaller details, like the pin numbers on the TL072, and the bias knob.

anyway, sorry for not posting the schematic, i got a little buisy when i was posting it. i noticed 2 things wrong right before i posted, one small, but one really huge. so i was scrambling to fix it before i posted it, and forgot the scheme in the process.

Ok, using your part numbers, here are some possible issues:

You have R1 on one side going to pin 3. But the other end goes nowhere. Should be to ground. Suggest that the pad on the other end of R1 be connected to the ground trace
just above it (i.e. coming off C8).

C8 on the schematic I'm looking at is 2.2uf. Yours is listed as 220uf.

Pin 2 of IC1 is connected directly to C1 which then leads to R2. The schematic shows R2 as directly connected to Pin2.

R8 isn't listed with a value. Should be 10K?

C7 goes to T1. Shouldn't it be T3?

C9 is listed as .01pf. Think it should be .01uf.

Can't tell where D3 is supposed to be connected.

C5 should be 22uf according to the schematic, you show 22nf.

oh wow, didn't notice some of this little errors. thanks a billion. yeah, some of the component values are a little messed up. the default value when assigning capacitor values is pF, and i didn't notice that right away, and even after i realized that, i still accidentally mislabled some values. thanks for reminding me.

anyway, thankfully all the things you pointed are easy fixes. i've never worked with tubes before, so i figured my mistakes would happen there.

again, thank you.

No problem. Feel free to post your updated version if you want me to check them :)

Revised today. How's it look now? i'll get to the ps later tonight.

You are so close!

1. Drive pot: you have a pad for 1&2 and a pad for 3. I think it should be a pad for 1 and a pad for 2&3.

2. You have C7 as .01pf. Think it should be .01mf

3. Tone pot: T3 is correct. T2 is not labeled and should not be connected to T1.

4. Might be a good idea to add pads for the volumen control: T2 should to to V3 (volume pot pin 3) V2 becomes the "out" and v1 goes to ground.

Thanks for your hard work on this one. I'll etch a PCB as soon as it is confirmed and build this!
