Yet Another UglyFace Question!

I've been having issues with my UglyFace. The circuit itself works just fine but I knew I had a two wires in the wrong place on a pot lug so I got out the Home Wrecker wiring diagram and set to work to make everything perfect. I corrected the pot wires and double checked the schematic. Everything is in order. However, I still can't turn down the volume with my guitar when it's oscillating and I can't get the space gun sounds at all. I followed the directions in all the posts I've read and when I smack my guitar I just get a sort of UglyFace-open-strings-distortion (if that makes sense). Also, when I set my frequency pot as high as it will go, I get a slight volume loss. I used the Home Wrecker schematic with the addition of the 0.001 caps. Any thoughts?

By smack, i think they mean a muted smack. When you do this, do you hear the oscillator blip its tone slightly? Thats what mine does. It shows that the envelope control exists, but only slightly. My guitar seems to have much weaker pickups than others, and I think boosting the input may help fix this, and give a large change in frequency (the space gun sound).
Have a go.  :icon_biggrin:

I've tried pretty much everything I've read, including the muted smack. Maybe I'm muting the wrong way. Are you uting near the bridge as if you were palm muting and hit the body/neck, or do you just slightly muffle the strings with your playing hand and hit the body with your free hand? I'm really overanalyzing this. :)

Yeah, its no specific type of smack.  :D
Do you here the oscillator tone blip upwards? If not there is something wrong.

I sat down with the UF just now and really fiddled with it and got some sounds very similair to Tim's examples so I'm happy. Thanks for the help!

So I was recording direct last night with my UglyFace and that frequency knob really does a doozy on my volume. Like I said, when it's on the bassier side, it's loud, as you go higher, the volume decreseas so much that you need to use the volume of the pedal to fix it. Is this normal?

Doesnt sound wrong. Bit like distortion - if you decrease the gain you have to increase the volume.
So do you get the space-gun atari-style sounds? I have to get mine to do that

Noplasticrobots

Yeah, I finally got them after twiddling and twiddling and twiddling... Thanks!

i'm having this same problem.

can you tell me what your knob settings are?

what guitar are you using? what pickup settings?
