hi, do someone here ever try this????

look pretty interesting.

Izzy

Wow looks intresting but what kinda sound would this Pedal give.?
Ignore my stupidity. :D

There's a looong thread about this circuit, do a search.

I think the jury is still out whether this layout works 100%, but bear in mind it's designed to 'make sounds similar to a synth' rather than actually being a gtr synth.
It's kind of 'on my list' but I have lots of other stuff to keep me busy at the moment.

I believe the maker of this circuit says that it will work this way, but he was still working on it!

Peace!

Dosen't this circuit convert pitch to voltage, voltage to VCO? That would qualify it as a true guitar synth(however rudimentary), unlike for instance the EH microsynth... My concern with this would be how well it tracks... I'm very curious about that.

Oh jeeze- I thought the 4007 was doing something completely different. Doh! Still, it's a PLL vco with... note changes. Square wave, I assume. I'm starting to get pretty curious though, because if it works well as is(tracking, pitch, etc.) there are some mods and additions I can think of to potentially make this thing really do some interesting stuff.  Really, just basic synth circuits and an envelope follower...

hello.  i'm still working on this.  i have made it according to the layout, but still can't get reasonable performance from it.  the initial schematic wouldn't work as shown, and had little info about it.  i guess it "supposes" you know what it needs to complete it.  sorry.  i started that thread to learn more about layouts and designing effects, and it kind of blew up with everyone wanting it to work.  i learned from that.  no more posting until they are verified.

keep an eye here for the status of that layout:

and of course, i'll post here with flying colors if i get it working.  thanks!

thank you, i'll give it a look.
does someone here ever build this one?

choklitlove-

I just put this thing together on perf.  I made my own layout, but it's very very similar to yours.  Unforunately it doesn't track my guitar at all.  Instead, it's a rather interesting noise maker - play with the Freq and VCO knobs and viola - instant Beck (think Odelay).  Anyways, I am wondering what your sounds like.  I understand you're still working on it, but does it track at all for you?  I'm just wanting you to tell me, "yes, it tracks, but maybe not well all the time" so that I can go ahead and tear it apart looking for the problem.

By the way, I didn't have any 1uF electro caps, so I used 4 (yes, four) 4.7uF electros in series... Similarly I had to substitute 4.8M res (2.2M + 2.2M + 400K in series) for the 4.7M's.  These are some rather ugly hacks, but I wanted to get in proximation without running to radio shack

thanks and cheers!

You are wasting your time with this circuit!

Because without a pitch to voltage converter it cannot track notes properly, even under ideal conditions. The 4007 is only amplifying and maybe squaring off(distorting) the signal, you would still need a freq-voltage circuit. In this case the idea is to try to get the PLL to do that... but I don't see how it would do it very well.  Once you have THAT, you could control any VCO theoretically, even just a 555, but this ain't it. Even very elaborate and expensive circuits designed to specifically convert a guitar signal to CV usually do a lousy job at it. I was hoping beyond reason that someone had found a quick and dirty way around this. Might get some good and wierd noises from it though...

weel i looked a bit around and founded the crash sync on moosapotamus site. this is a cool one!

maybe could be the next one!

zpyder

hmmm... well maybe I'll box it up as a noise maker...

Here's a similar comtraption:

Very much in the Uglyface/Crash Synch school of noise effect. Tons of fun!

i can't get mine to track at all either.  i have found something that gives it some weird sounds, and that's posted in "the long thread".  i'm just curious, do you think that the guy who originally wrote that schematic got it to work at all?  if so, why doesn't it for any of us?  it's very frustrating, and may be a total waste of time.  but i really hope it isn't.

just for the record I built this on vero board a while back and it didn't work either.  I didn't even get any self-oscillation or anything.
