breadboard vs perfboard noise

It seems to me that I get more noise from breadboarded circuits than I do from ones that are perfboarded. Is there a reason for this? Is it always going to be more noisy on a breadboard?

Thanks :)

I believe the breadboard will be noisier, yup!  Think it has to do with capacitance between the traces in those little holes...they act like capacitors.  Lenghts of wire on there act like antennas, too.  There is less of this on a perfboard.
Plus, once you get your circuit in a grounded enclosure, you get shielding - which has way more of an effect on noise than either breadboarding or perf.

Also, there is quite a bit of capacitance between adjacent rows.
And if it has a big metal plate on the base, that may help, or may make it worse, depending whether it is connected to ground.
I'm not a fan of breadboards myself, but I realise I'm in a minority, and that many many people have great success with them.

i really dislike breadboards as well...i can never get something to work the same way on a breadboard.  i usually just build something and modify on the board itself or add another daughter board.  maybe not the best method and i've definitely wasted some parts doing this, but i just can't stand breadboards with all those little jumpers and little wires sticking out everywhere -- i'm constantly confusing myself with breadboards...

I love 'em for their ease of use and speed, but nothing ever works as planned because of the above-mentioned issues.  So I just get things working on them, and plan on tweaking them after assembly.  Great if you don't want to spend a lot of time soldering and wasting parts.
