Alright, after 1 month of building, debugging, messing up,bothering fellow builders with PM's.... :icon_rolleyes: finally this is my biggest project so far.
I got lucky and found an old "portable" 50's Magnavox sound system that had these folding door style speakers on it.....Ha, inside, two 35W 1958 CTS speakers!!!

This Ruby is equipped with a Hearthrob tremolo and a AMX Mosfet booster preset at full on driving the Ruby. I guess I got lucky with the signal level compared to the spkr 35W rating, as it is now, I get clean signal with drive off, full volume and backed off on the guit volume a bit, that is the loudest clean I can get, its pretty loud!, but then if I want to rock out, full volume everywhere and full drive puts the spkers at their sweet spot!
Also, what is really cool and thats my MOJO part......if I close the speakers closer toghether at about maybe 10- 15 degrees, I get so amazing phase cancelations that give you that silky smooth ZZTop feel with great sustain!

Im so fuc##@ing happy with this, now I got this great tone, portable on 12v C battery design!....Oh and I love my Fender Led Jewel.....
thanks to everyone who helped me on this one!
Cheers

Here are two sites I've seen people using for free audio hosting:

I'm anxious to hear if this Ruby sounds as good as it looks!

OK, here are some gut shots.....the tin foil is for noise, I have no idea how it would be without the foil, but it is very quiet!.I have to say that I would of loved to have cleaner wireing, but this project was killing me and so I put the effort where it needed the most....making the darn thing work and not ocssilate!
Il be setting up a Youtube registration for sound samples, that would be the simplest way to post.....il be doing this as soon as I get a hold of a videocam.

Ah Guys, I just went through another hoop with this build.... :icon_rolleyes:, I opened it up to take gut shots.....it started to ocssilate again!!...oh no I thought, well I learned again today, so ill share for anyone interested.

Originally the speaker negative was soldered directly on the batt plug....

That seemed to do the job....but nooooo.....so, I now had a secret ingredient to use on this problem.....confidence!,ha, no ocssilating agressive Ruby is going to stop me......

did this on the wire and stuck it that much closer to the truth......glorious loud tone, tried anyway I could, no ocssilation!!!!! :icon_mrgreen:

Very cool Mario!  I'm a little jealous.  I had an old player like that...tossed it out...a few years before I found this site...wish I had waited!

Again thanks guys, unfortunately my ocssilation problems continue......its like the Magnavox Presidents ghost is toying with me because I ripped the system apart! :icon_rolleyes:
Darn, it stops ocssilating at lower volume but, I want to drive it like I could before....

OK I know this is achievable, but Ill put it down for now, I feel frustration jitter comming up and I dont want to mess this up.
Im off for a jog, Ill probably cut it halfway having found the solution!

UPDATE:...well unless some other gremlin gets in the way...its solved!, kind in a weird way and Id love to understand whats behind this magic....
I took the small metal plate attatched to the speaker negative and began inserting it IN the batt compartment, started at middle point(fourth battery inline) and the pitch of the squell changed, tried further down at 6th inline, less ocssilation!, then finally at the end of the 8th battery...which to me looks like the positive end! and that works, no ocssilation, !!!
I dont get it!, Im not going to argue!!, but It looks like the speaker negative is on the positive of the battery.

Next step, send a clip on youtube....

The Ruby's a cool amp for sure - Very hip looking build/enclosure, et al - dig the Strat too.

My fault, my failure, is not in the passions I have, but in my lack of control of them.

oldrocker

Nice job.  The built in tremolo is a great idea.

brett

Hi
to reduce or eliminate oscillations, you might want to back off the gain of the mosfet booster a little.
It's probably the weak link in the chain.
cheers
