Just took out a modified V847 to replace the inductor.

I didn't test it before I replaced the inductor, because the last time I turned it on, it wahed.

Just replaced the inductor with a Whipple, all 5 pins are in place and show connectivity to the respective resistors they should connect to.

Plug in, turn on, and it just acts as a volume pedal.

Is the only possiblity the inductor? Is there a specific pinout for inductors? I didn't think there was.

Is the only culprit the 4.7uf cap?

Thanks.

"Important that it be large enough to bypass all signal at its (+) terminal to ground. From 4.7uF on up, little effect on sound. As it gets smaller, the sound becomes more of a loudness variation and less of a wah. If this cap is defective, wah pedals sound like volume pedals."

yup, i think it is the 4.7uF pol. cap.

inductor rotated the wrong way?  that cap is ALWAYS the prob when I have this problem...but I can't promise anything without seeing it

It could be the tone capacitor, it might be the cold solder joint etc.  I have not seen a v847 in a while but i believe it is 10 nanofarads, i'd check that first, and then the fasel inductor solder joints.  hope this helps :icon_biggrin:

If you look closely at the inductor you will see above the two "hot" pins a very thin wire attached. They should be right next to each other. all the other pins are just there to hold the inductor in place. They won't necessarily show you how to correctly orientate the inductor.  If you're looking at a vox wah board make sure one hot pin is on the bottom (closer to you) and the other towards the top of the board. Make sure they aren't soldered to the same trace or you won't get any wah.. Thanks to Battle Of Midway for clueing me into this. The Whipple's are rad.
