Dean Markley Overlord switching problem

I have the starving tube version that is basically a rehoused Tube Driver, not the newer solid-state one.  The pedal powers up and signal passes through in bypass, but the footswitch doesn't engage the pedal.  From what I understand, it's a momentary switch that operates FET switching.  I had a feeling that was the case and then I read through this thread: http://music-electronics-forum.com/showthread.php?t=1553

Here are my questions:
- Could I just replace the existing switch with another momentary or are there specifications I should try to find first?
- How is the bypass on this pedal?  I could probably just TB it with the information from that thread I posted but should I?
- Does anyone have a 12AU7 they aren't using, for when I have it working? :)

I opened the pedal up and examined it just now.  The switch is definitely the problem.  I hope I am explaining this right... when I press the button, the switch body is pushed apart by the shaft of the actuator, and no electrical contact is being made.  I superglued part that was separating and let it sit for a few minutes.  I plugged the pedal in and tried it again... nothing.  I noticed that separation was occurring yet again on a different part of the switch body.

Thank you, Dean Markley, for using cheap-ass switches.

I have a 3PDT I could put in there, but the hole from the existing switch is a big larger than the shaft on the 3PDT, so I'd need a couple larger washers.  Goddamn.

I have the same pedal that has a switching problem.  Someone replaced the red arcade game style switch with a carling switch.  However, it wasnt momentary, so you had to push it twice to get it on or off.

Then it just passed bypass and nothing else.  The board is so tightly jam packed, I dont even want to mess with it.

Also, the bypass switching appears to be all just cobbled together in a bit of plastic tubing.  Nice.
Try a little tenderness.

That's precisely why I want to just stick a better momentary stomp switch in there.  I don't want to be out any more time and money than I have to, and if I can't get it working, some dork on eBay will want it for almost as much as what a working one would go for.

MONTHS later...

I replaced the original momentary switch with another from Radio Shack and it still only works in bypass.  I really want to get this pedal up and running so I can effectively have an extra preamp gain stage for my Valve Junior!  Anyone have this pedal or worked with it before?

it may not be the switch.  take a very close look at the green .047 cap attached to the brown (if i remember right) wire from the switch.  i THINK it was c6.

those actually break at the leg OFTEN for some reason.  swap that out and see what happens.

it will probably be the thing.
