Thanks for posting this, I really had no idea people made these in their home. It looked like he made every machine for each task [except the measurement devices of course]. I don't read Francais, is the glass borosilicate? Were the small beakers he dipped into a method of introducing what would become inert gas or the stuff that gets cooked off the cathode? Yeah, incroyable!

I have some sand, maybe after that we can work on some opamps too or some pentiums.    Actually, a big triangular block of germanium with some foil and wires stuck in it comes to mind just about now...    ;D

+1 on needing the spot welder!  That thing is so cool! 

The two videos linked are just amazing.  They are informative, but beyond that, they are a tribute to people's ingenuity and are just plain inspiring.  Thank you for sharing them with us.
