Hi!

The Sans Amp GT2 is just about the most versatile distortition I have built. But the worst thing about it is the offboard wiring. With the 3 switches and the 4 pots, that's about 30 wires coming out of the board.

So, I modified the tonepad PCB so you can :

1) Solder the 3x3PDT switches right on the PCB.
2) Use the PC mount pots from Smallbear (http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=692 and http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=710).

Here are some pictures (Most of the wiring is temporary until I paint it next week) :

Here is the modified PCB and the layout. I've only drawn the parts that moved from the original tonepad PCB.
I didnt left a whole lot of room for screws, so you may have improvise there. Mine is only held be 2 screws and is very rigid.

Looks great, really compact. Well done!

That is a sizable batch of fine work we can share ! Thank You !

Very nice work.

Having said that you should check with Francisco to make sure he's Ok with you posting his artwork. I know you've changed it but it's still basically tonepad's layout.

Just a warning, I don't want you getting into any trouble  :)

bleubleu

Oh, I didnt think about that...
I will PM him to get his approval.

Not sure how the rest of it works, but FP has marked the artwork...
  Fransisco Pedera [spellcheck.
The layout certainly looks to greatly simplify the [dreaded] OB wiring, high gain circuit / short leads... :icon_cool:

Fab, super, amazing, intelligent work.
Thanks so much for sharing, the wiring is a big put-off on this one.
You Sir, rock!

I sorta did the same thing to Fp.
I extracted a section of Fp's art to make a second LFO daughter card.
Then I posted it and now I think it was not the right thing to do.

I have an urge to share with the stompbox community because I've gotten so much,
but my skill at the time was limited to re-interpreting other folks layouts.

Thats fine and all. Its at the heart of diy to tinker.
It was the unsolicited sharing part I should have resisted.

Which, I as see it now, leaves me with three options in such a case:

A. don't share the modified layout. That would be a shame in this case.

B. Ask for permission to share the enhanced work.

C. Post some pics in the PICTURES thread and anyone who really wants to build one can ask and handle the communication through Private Messages.
Using PMs helps avoid the "Me Too" posts that fill up a thread with requests.

I think I like option C the best.
Then you can keep track of who you sent the layout to and they will be more inclined to actually build it.
"Hey, how'd that layout work out for ya?"

Yeah, I just wanted to share it! I didnt think about copyrights or anything.

I PMed Fp and I am waiting for an answer...
If he's pissed I will take it off and work on a PM-basis!

And a post on the picture thread is definitely a good idea.

Thanks for the feedback.

Nice work!

where do you get those 3PDT switches?
It's supposed to sound that way.

bleubleu

Hi!

These are from Smallbear (http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=495). Mouser probably has them too.

These are DP3T, kindof expensive, but really good quality. The nice thing about them, is that you can install them by drilling a round hole which is much easier for us DIY-er. The original Sans Amp GT2 has slide switches which requires rectangular holes.

Can anyone send me the PCB and layout to tednet4wow[at]gmail[dot]com ?

Very nice. I did the wiring as it is and ppl who saw it asked did YOU assemble it?  :D

I think I want to make your version too. Would you mind sharing the PCB?
