hey, i got one of this http://www.banzaieffects.com/Hitpoint-PMOF9745S-42U-pr-23504.html and i wanted to use it as a micro for a drumpad or something similar, but im not sure how to wire it. i tryed put like one side as signal, other to ground but didnt give no sound... not really sure how do to. in the description it says "Current consumption: Max. 0.5mA" so i suppose i got to power it, but thats as far as i go... lol

help  ;D

These mics require a DC bias voltage.  Something like this should work:

The microphone has a polarity which may not be marked on it.  If it doesn't work one way, switch the connections and it should be OK.

Hi
these devices have JFET amplifiers in them (without the drain resistor.  the stratoblaster is an example).
as shown above, you need a drain resistor (10 to 33k), and an output cap to take the signal away (big cap if low load, little cap if high load.  about 0.1uF or 0.22uF will be about right.  the 10uF shown above is ok if that's all you've got.)

There are MANy Better ways to wire a Mic capsule...the curcuit shown is close the the most basic way to wire it with about the worst performance...I have several designs for Electret mics and some are even Phantom powered so you can use them with a Mic preamp or mixer...

If yer interested I"ll post one for you....

yep, of course im interested, if you dont mind showing  ;)

Here is a phantom powered Version...

and here"s another phantom powered one accept this one has lower noise,Output impedance and Higher SPL handleing...

what voltage comes from pin 3? its the normal 9v?
gotta try this circuits, thanks :)

there is a positive and negative on that capsule (well signal and ground) the ground has a small trace leading to the case of the microphone.

These circuits need 48V phantom power from say a Mic preamp or a mixer...You need to use a Mic preamp with a mic anyways so I figured these curcuits would be better than say a 9V Battery powered one...

ok, but what i want to do is a drumpad, not a microphone. my idea is use a battery so i can place it inside the drumpad, but i will try out your circuits, peraps using two batteries..
btw, i've tryed the 1st circuit and it works nicely(the one from pjwhite)
thanks all
