Here are some of my Magic Numbers !
  Watts:
  15w - 500w [divided by 1-4, 1340 divided by 3 occasionally]
  2watts may be plenty.
  Volts:
298volts, dangerous magic, and therefore must be kept perfectly clean, you must know exactly what you are to expect before attempting it.
9.4v no sentient beings have noticed it isn't 9v that I know of.
~1.8v starts to be able to light an LED, above this amount is where it starts getting easier to find ways to work it.
Current: I've yet to experience a problem lack of current with applied magic, yes, behind the scenes here has had a tiny bit of overcurrent causing MSO, Magic Smoke Outgassing.

I got it :) I haven't had any MSO since that unfortunate APC build awhile back...

I had MSO recently when I was not informed that a Threshold Stasis 2 had a blown output transistor, so I turned it on.

Now I have trouble because that was audiophile magic smoke that I let get away, and now I need a audiophile voodoo priest to sell me parts.

I have no idea what this thread is about, but I like it so far.  :icon_lol:

I used to work with a guy that had MSO several times a day.  The poor guy in front of him could always be heard saying "Geez Mike, it won't work if you let the smoke out" of course I had to sanitize it a bit from what was really said, especially close to the end of the day.

I find it is entertaining to not even know what is what and discuss the small parts of it. ''What it is'' is generally ''what is it'' for me here, probably the core of ''it'' [which IME is the most interesting content] isn't included in the discussion.
You know something about a capacitor ?
Perhaps there's a voltage or wire that would improve my speaker cabinet ?
The wild type of magic we've all engaged in, taking one small part of the magic spell and recast it into the role intended for the large part, then talk of it as though there actually could be an understanding of it's function, given the small-partial contexting.
What really is entertaining to me is when ''it'' is needed for vintage-perfect reproduction pedal, which of course, when the full context is revealed, is a misnomer, contradiction in terms, and an impossibility, just like the other magic, if you can believe ''it''.

For those who are into boutique or DIY tube making. Make sure to capture and collect all of that magic smoke.  Once filtered to get rid of any phlogiston, it can be used to coat the components of tubes (make sure you only do one molecule thickness, however) with the result being TTM (Total Tubular Mojo).  :icon_lol:

Seriously, though, it sounds like you had the flux capacitor in backwards.  :icon_wink:

Yes, smoke can pretty much explain all of this, lots and lots of smoke. ;D

pete is my favorite poster here.

i was wondering if you knew of any magic sigils i could incorporate into my schematics?  sending you ether energy as i wait for your reply.

I felt the power when worked in a place that was open 24/7/365 plus extra hours and I had few lead acid batteries for spare energy for blackouts. I manually recharged few of these sometimes and then I measured voltage across + and - with my cheapo multimeter but accidentally had current measurement position on. Probes melted immediately and the plastic case has still a bump where the internal shunt resistor is. No other damage.
