Hello!

I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind casting an eye over my stripboard layout for me? It's my first stripboard layout so don't quite want to build it and find out something major is wrong!

I think I might need to cut the trace under C3 & C7, but otherwise, I think I'm ready to go. Also, I know that the layout is very long, but I've got a box big enough.

Here's my layout:

And here's the original schem for comparison:

Thank you!

stringsthings

welcome to the world of DIY layout!  :)

i noticed three areas of concern, two of which you've already thought about:

1)  cut under R6
2)  cut under C3
3)  cut under C7

please let us know your results

If you want to wait a few days, I could probably come up with a tighter vero for you. Looks like an Iowa plain out there.

I wanted to comment on the Headbanger headphone amp circuit.  I built a headphone distribution system for my brothers band using four headbanger amps and a distribution box to plug each one into.  It expanded the mixers on board headphone so every member could control their own volume.  I put the circuit into plastic cigarette cases with belt clips already on them and it worked like a charm.
Note: Not shown on the schematic is the separation of the input and output grounds. The ground wires from P1 and R1 are connected separately from other grounds to a point on the amp board close to pin 2 of IC1 and IC2.
The input grounds must be kept separate from the output grounds, otherwise the unit will oscillate also grounding the metal cover on the volume pot is recommended.  I posted some pics of the cicuit board and finished project.

Cheers for the responses and sorry for my slow reply!

Thanks stringsthings, I did indeed overlook R6, but it does work without the trace cut there. I have since cut it though and it still works though so it's all good. So now it's more like this:

Dino, a smaller layout would be awesome if you don't mind? Running the two halves of the circuit with one above the other in the layout would probably save quite a bit of space or at least make it slightly more manageable in an enclosure... I think? I've got a gig coming up on Sunday, so I wanted to get it built before then as up until now, I've been relying on a terrible Behringer headphone amp that seems to drain bass response. As a bassist, it's not exactly ideal! But I'm really considering re-building it at some point with a smaller board.

Oldrocker, is that layout it on perfboard? I've wanted to have a go with that stuff for a while, but I haven't been able to find it easily in the UK and then I keep forgetting about it!

Also, to anyone who wants to listen or is looking for a good headphone amp: the headbanger is really good! My guitarist built himself a different headphone amp to put on his pedalboard (and run off his 9V) supply, which was rubbish and made a lot of noise on the rest of his signal chain (I think it might have been drawing too much current?). The headbanger works silently with the rest of my pedals!

OK Mike. I just read your reply. I'll try and get something to you by the weekend. It'll be small, I promise.

Cheers,
Dino

Hi Mike,

Try this;

The part names/values should match to your original vero, and I left you a 3x3 area in opposing corners if you wish to mount it on stand-offs.

Sorry about the super late reply... I've been crazy busy trying to finish uni... Come Friday, I will be free forever!

Thank you so much for the tiny schematic Dino! It looks awesome. I shall try it out when I once have a life again.
