Title: Substituting a 4.7uf cap for one with a higher voltage.
Post by: The Rocket From The Tombs on January 20, 2013, 02:49:21 AM
Could I substitute a 4.7uf 50v electro cap for another 4.7uF but, with a voltage of 400? If one was to do this, could the higher voltage have any irreversible effects on the other components, say frying them.

That will work fine. The voltage rating is the max so as long as the voltage rating is larger then what your feeding into it your fine . Putting a larger voltage rated cap in that place will not do anything to the circuit. Usually the larger the voltage rating the larger in physical size.

and the larger the cost.
