Title: FETs and MOSFETS...interchangable?
Post by: jishnudg on February 26, 2013, 01:15:21 AM
Are there any DIY designs where the specified FETs like J201,2N5457 etc can be replaced by MOSFETS...? I was looking to use some 2N7000 and BS170 MOSFET spares I have to make an R.O.G type FET preamp..

I would say not really.. You could do it but you are gonna have to change a lot of values and the pinouts are different.

Hi
The biasing is very different.
Is there any reason why you can't use JFETs?
cheers

n channel jfets have their gate negative to the source. n channel MOSFETs (of the usual enhancement mode) have their gate positive to the source.

so no, not really
