Title: Dunlop GCB95 "Retrograde"
Post by: bettsaj on June 10, 2013, 05:39:13 PM
Hi everyone, newbie here so please be gentle.  ;)

I have a Dunlop GCB95 wah pedal, which I'd like to retrograde back to an older design. The reason is I'm after replicating the famous "seagull" effect used by David Gilmour on the song Echoes. He did this by reversing the input and output. He plugged the guitar into the output, and the amp into input. However this effect is impossible on later model Dunlop and Vox wahs, I believe because of the buffer fitted to modern wah pedals.

I've heard its possible to remove the buffer therefore reverting the pedal back to a more vintage design. Is this possible, and if so, is it and easy mod?

Thanks in advance

Andy

I've removed the input buffer, and the seagull effect is now possible when reversing the guitar and amp cables, but playing the wah through my Pocket POD with headphones I can't hear the Wah when it's plugged in normally. when I removed the input buffer i removed the 6 components mentioned on the stinkfoot site, no others.

have i done something wrong??

Over the weekend i'll try it through my full rig, instead of the POD.
