Hey guys,
Just recieved some 9mm and they have this bracket on the back. I've never even used a 9mm pot before. Can you just rip it off? Is it connected to any of the pins? Or is it just for mounting? To be clear here, you can see it in the photos in this listing:

The two on the bottom?
Those are for mounting. Because the actual lug pins are sort of weak on these, where they enter the actual pot. Tend to snap there if they are handled a lot.
So you can bend or clip the mounting lugs on the bottom.
Or drill a couple holes on the PCB for them to go into.
^That.
Those pots can be fragile.
Ahh, sorry i didnt notice those 2 extra lugs there. No i actually meant that plate on the back of the pot with the curved lugs. (the plate with 'alpha' stamped on it)

There are two sets of three lugs because the pot is a dual pot: turning the shaft operates both pots in sync. All 6 are "live" and need to be wired correctly for the pot to function as a dual pot.
The other two pins on the plate marked "Alpha" were already described correctly. You can clip the pins (but I wouldn't) but I am not sure what is behind the plate - I doubt it's there just for show, you won't want to remove it..
The photograph made it look like 2 lugs but yeah i see now, its a dual gang!
Cool thanks for hte explanation. If they get the way, ill clip them off, otherwise ill just leave them
So how do you guys usually use 9mm pots? PCB mount, off board wire, etc?

PCB Mount.
These days, I PCB mount almost all my pots.
It does tend to make PCB design a bit more of a challenge though.
Thanks CodeMonk. They fit my fabbed PCB's nicely! I cant remember if i did this on purpose...anyway, all is good.
If i snip off those extra lugs on the back of the pot, they will mount onto the back of the pcb perfectly!

I didn't realize you meant the the actual put lugs ...lol
