A friend wanted this image on a pedal, and I thought it'd be a good excuse to see what I can do with what I have. We're both satisfied, and it ended up being pretty funny. It's just an Electra Distortion with socketed diodes so he can change sounds if he wants, but here it is in all it's cat-eating glory.

That old Larry David pedal floating about is the funniest thing I've ever seen!!
the dead fish pedal in the pedal disasters thread was the sickest... 8)
the ALF pedal is brilliant! love it--!!!!
wait till you see whatsisname's* "furr face" build. I hope he sees this and posts the pic here, so's we can comment on it without thread sidetracking.

Any pictures of it still? The old ones are gone...
I haven't made anything overly silly, other than jam a 5 knob fuzz into a landscape orientated 1590A.
I wish I made this. Saw it on reddit and absolutely loved it. So much so, I had friends who don't even play an instrument ask for one or something similar.

One of my first "challenging" pedal builds and inspired by my children. Still have this one and it works great. Always reminds me of time spent with the kiddos!

haha! That was exactly what my buddy asked me!

Some of the images in this thread are great, this makes me want to try another one.

there is an australian blues man named Hat Fitz (and Cara), quite popular on the local blues radio programs. he's an important factor later in this story.
I had my original aluminium prototype 1590a size bend laying about for many months, all drilled and bracketed, waiting, holes all in wrong/bad places, but nevermind. I decided a boost of some sort would be small enough to fit, but a quick finish for the box?
about the same time was shown a build with a strange 'favourite cartoon' pasted on. having no such, I started casting about for a picture suitable. I thought of taking a photo of the green perf above a green motherboard, and wrapping that, and then cutting up the motherboard for the end covers, fantastic! the printing part becomes a problem, so ....
.... something to paste on suitable. I had been doing a load of 'cornflakes' packet pasting, for various diff things, and went looking. first thing I saw was a cat biscuit packet and the whole thing fell into place, a theme, if you will.
and I built a fetzer with a K30A fet and bright switch. nice internal sub-panels/spacers from recycled computer fascias for the jacks both sides (funny thing, I don't have enough space inside to start with, but then I use up some of what is there for spacings) had little rails on, so I used them as board supports and as positive stops for the foot plate. no gut shots, they were lost after the case was liquored up and lacquered down.
the whole project was a rough hack from the start, so when the usual gluing problems with corners and bends raised their ugly heads, I just ignored them, and added more glue. that's why the corners look a mess. the jarrah end panels are the left-overs from previous cutups, one is wafer thin and slanty, the f-hole is just a (an?)
and what do you think I called it, and why the blues man? well, you really should have put it together by now, and I'm quite proud of:

"cat fetz". Mr Fitz, if you're reading this, give me a hoy. if anyone here does that facebook thing and would point him to this post, I'd be grateful, it's my intention to send him the finish item, I have no use for it.
whoa! that cat one is awesome! the foodbowl is a nice touch too ;D
I found a couple of old PNP Germanium transistors in my parts bin, 2N1305 and 2N1499A. The gains were right so I decided to build a modified fuzz face using negative ground. The boost basically splits the Q2 collector resistor with a 2K pot (lugs 1 & 3) with the wiper as boost out, and 5K6 fixed between the pot and collector, with 1K2 from ground to pot- these values gave me close to 4.5V on the collector- YMMV. Normal out is at 1.2K / pot (lug 3) junction. Same tone, adjustable boosted volume, would work better on the board with a stomp switch rather than the toggle for selecting output. But a silly fun build!!

Thank you guys,
Oh, I probably posted all that stuff some years ago when I was a bit more active on our forum, but I feel that's a bit difficult to retrieve the posted material on diystompboxes, sorry... So...
When I see the high grade and style of finishing that some of us are able to achieve here by etching, painting... I stay amazed :icon_eek:, and unable to reach such a level. Congratulations 8)...
So yes, a bunch of old signs, logos, emblems and plates is a facility to make this uncommon and dependable "retro test equipment look..." :icon_mrgreen:.

I think being able to build the aesthetic is a skill in itself regardless of how difficult or simple actually implementing it is, that is a great idea for a finished look!

Thanks Luke51411 !
More details :
The 2-transistors-Fasel VOX Wah has a Voicing 6-pos. rotary switch and a Resonance (sharpness) pot.
The distortion is a RAT 1891 Rev. B (the original circuit) with its usual Distortion, Filter and Volume controls.
The lateral toggle switch allow to shift the order of the 2 pedals : Wah ---> Dist. or Dist. ---> Wah.
The 2 FSW allow TBP in/out operation of the 2 effects.
9VDC internal battery or Ext. "Boss" DC powering.
A+!

one LED is on/off
others - volume.
It's a "space reverb" based on spin fv-1
Speaking of space, as of yesterday, every man who has walked on the moon and is still alive is in his 80's. And then there is deadastronaut.

how come no one has gone back or another country hasn't attempted to go to the moon ? I think it was a elaborate hoax. a theft of wealth by CIA/OSS and the Nazi's ..they stole what, 100's of trillions of dollars through the space program and alike.
there is noway anyone stepped foot on the moon.
Pleased to have resisted that one

Several countries and agencies have sent unmanned missions. Russia, China, Japan, and the ESA all have at one time or another. Manned missions are incredibly complicated, expensive, and rather pointless. Robots can do it so much cheaper.
You must realize the importance of the "space race" both politically and militarily. The country with the greatest rocket technology also by default ends up with the best nuclear weapons delivery platforms. The space race was really an arms race, but in a democracy the public also has to be behind it.
The race is over. The Cold War is history. We managed not to irradiate ourselves in a nuclear holocaust so we all won. Not much point to return to the moon until it becomes more economical and practical. The next big step will be, of course, a permanent human colony on the surface of the moon, and right now that's a long ways off since there's no hydrogen there for making water, etc, we will need to bring lots of it along and that's a logistical nightmare in itself.
The Obama administration killed the Constellation project that was looking into further manned missions to the Moon, so it's anybodies guess when it the next US missions will happen. Hopefully whatever comes of it it will be a joint venture between numerous agencies like the ISS.
Some very cool stuff is going down though! Comets, Pluto, and beyond! Mars. The moons of Jupiter and Saturn (possible LIFE!!!). All unmanned of course, but only because the distances and costs make manned missions impossible at this stage. The various agencies have been busy, but the Moon just hasn't been something getting much attention lately. Poor Moon!

Can't remember if I ever posted these. The left one is a Tonepad Ibanez FL301 Phil-Anger. The artwork was either gonna be Dr. Phil or Phil Collins since they are the only two Famous Phils that had charicatures of them online and would work with the theme. Phil Collins plays drums instead of guitar but has an angry charicature available. Dr Phil plays no instruments that I know of but might try to help someone deal with their anger. His was the funnier of the two so he won. The other is a Rebote that was just nearby, lol.
