Title: A100K or A10K volume pot?
Post by: loki on December 02, 2015, 01:45:11 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm designing a passive switcher to route several inputs (PC output, audio card output, pre-amped record player output) to a set of active speakers. I'm thinking of adding a master volume pot (stereo of course) and I was wondering what value would be better...

My first thought was A10K but would a A100K be better? Or is it the same?

Thank you!

So all your outputs are line level and the powered speaker input is line level.
The best choice would be 10k. 100k would work, but it will effect tone more when turned down since the speaker amp will see a higher source impedance than intended.
Use a good quality dual gang audio pot.

Thank you Jim, I will go for the A10K then!
