Post by: george79 on January 27, 2016, 07:32:54 AM
Hello,
as title says.I need some types NPN Si with max 100-120Hfe to experiment with a rangemaster project.
If you have some numbers to tell me i would be happy.

Thanks
George

Here are some from Digikey, both N and P versions

2N3866
JANTX2N4261
2N4237
2N4234
JANTX2N3506
2N2218A
2N697A
2N1613
JANTX2N1613
JANTXV2N1613L
2N3467
JANTX2N3467
2N4037
2N3053
2N2270
2N2219A
2N1711
2N2219
JANTX2N2219AL
JANTX2N1711S
JANTXV2N2219A

The 2N2219A is good to try first. I could not connect to Small Bear this morning so I was not able to check the stock there, but I know they have some similar devices.

I haven't tried it in a Rangemaster, but I've had good luck with 2N4123 in silicon fuzz faces, fuzzrites, etc...It seems to be right around 120 hfe on my meter.

Take a pair of any old Si transistors and piggyback (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=17513.0) them. Dial in whatever hfe you like.

I didn't see "rangemaster",
2N2369 is a good transistor for this circuit.
