hey guys and gals
like an idiot i forgot to put the plastic cover in when closing up my hm2 and now it sounds like horrible static. any ideas for a quick fix or do i have to check everything?

First of all, you have this under the Digital & DSP category, probably not where it should be.
Second, there are dozens of things that could possibly have shorted, without voltages, pictures, etc. it's impossible for us to know which. Check out the debugging thread ( http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=29816.0 ) and we'll see if we can help you get it figured out :)
