Title: EQD Bellows

Built it time ago, really nice fuzz.
Not too much compressed/fizzy, very close to a tradicional distortion: a huge amount of low end.

I tried 2N5457 and J201: both with good (almost the same) result.

I recomend to push it with a SHO kind booster: it turns rich in harmonics and compression, without fall in annoying noise.

Someone says its very close to "Bazz Fuss" design.

I tried a simple treeble roll off: but it have a really nice amount of bass itself. Will be a redundant muddy potentiometer.
I'll try a Big Muff there..

Which mods do you recomends??
Or where do you recomend to change some values??

A good candidate to a tiny enclosure, or to put it inside the guitar.

Scarlett Johansson uses a Burst Box with her Telecaster.

Oh..c'mon!! Why is she so perfect!?

So what is going on with this design?

Topology wise it's a Bazz Fuss, but the choice to use a JFET across the Darlington is very peculiar.
If it were a BJT, I'd understand, but the JFET Gate has practically infinite Input Impedance, so how is any current passing through to the Q2 Base???
It could be that the MPSA13 is so high-gain, the guitar signal can turn it on, but then why use the JFET at all?

I'm left thinking the JFET:
a.) Does Nothing
b.) Adds some nominal series resistance that slightly varies with how much current Q2 is pulling. (ie. does nothing)

Thoughts?

The FET is not biased in the active zone.

Consider this equivalent:

Exactly. And the jfet "body diode" is a bit softer compared to a regular Si signal diode.
