Title: Removing silkscreen for stuff in Eagle
Post by: suryabeep on October 04, 2017, 04:54:13 PM
Hi everyone,
I'm making a pcb in eagle and I can't figure out how to remove the silkscreen for the pots in Eagle. The silkscreen outline keeps throwing me off and looks horrible on the board. How should I do this?
Thanks!

I believe that you have to modify the component but I'm not really an expert in Eagle so wait for someone else 's answer.

I'm not an Eagle user; you have been warned. :icon_lol:

But in the PCB suites I have used, there is usually a tool that allows you to "explode" or "break apart" a component that's been placed into its sub-part primitve lines, arcs, pads, etc. Once it's been broken apart, you can just delete the silkscreen and nothing else. I do it all the time - in software that's not Eagle.

Open the library that contains the pots. Click on the "package" icon then load the package that corresponds to the pot. You'll need to check which layer the silkscreen is on but it's usually t-place or b-place. It could also be on the "document" layer. Simply delete the outlines on the correct layer. Save, close, and use the update library command from the drop down in the PCB layout.
