I'm a noob. This is my first project, so I didn't expect it to work the first time I plugged it in. I'm building the NPN Germanium Tone Bender III from the GGG site, but I sourced my own parts. Testing the voltage on these BC109 transistors is telling me they are not germanium. Everywhere else online is also telling me they're not germanium. Am I missing something, or does Mammoth have these labeled wrong on purpose?
Hopefully It's me that dumb and someone can tell me why. :icon_biggrin:
1) Yes, BC109 are silicon.
2) Expecting anyone running a small operation to have someone on staff at all times, checking and proofreading the website is expecting more than they can deliver.
Even when they DO have someone on staff to take care of that stuff, they miss. I regularly see gaffes on newspaper sites. Humans regularly confuse what they see with what they thought they wrote/read. It happens.
Thanks! I'm just happy with myself that I was able to figure it out on my own. Go me!
Good idea to look up data sheets for components you're not familiar with. Then you'll know if that's what you're looking for.
