Title: unity volume or gain issue?
Post by: neurot1 on October 07, 2019, 08:31:01 PM
Hi, i recently built the brutalist jr kit (from kurt ballou of converge), from what I can tell everything works properly but it is super loud. I mean putting the volume at 50 percent seems super loud. I was wondering if there is something I could have done wrong or if thats how this pedal should be.(loosely based on the providence stampede) Any help appreciated, thanks-P

A mistake in wiring, say not connecting the ground side of the volume pot, would make it ineffective.  Does the volume go to zero when set to minimum?

Another possible issue is the 100k volume pot is 100kB (ie. linear taper) instead of the spec'd 100kA (audio taper).

Oh, it could of course be super loud!  You could tame it down by adding a resistor in series with pin 3 of the volume pot.

Welcome neurot1..  :icon_biggrin:

Can't find something "loud" on your circuit build other than Loudness pot setting..
(and, maybe, a mismatch of R12 & R14..)

(sorry for low resizing resolution..)

If you still find it loud enough after Loudness pot low settings, implement what Rob told you above.. :icon_wink:
