Title: Wah with voicing cap blend pot instead of rotary selector
Post by: aab0mb on October 16, 2019, 01:16:17 PM
As the title suggests, would the Easy Face input cap blend pot be suitable for substituting the rotary switch cap selector?

Anything special to be aware of concerning adding a pot and additional cap in the location of the original voicing cap?

I figure it'll give unlimited options instead of 5 or 7 notches and take up less space as well as avoiding having to wire up the rotary so it doesn't pop.

I'm going to try it but if anyone has thoughts I would sure love the input.  :)

You could mess around on the breadboard quite easily with a twin t wah and the input cap blender........

Tricky. I would try a large and small cap in series and have the pot as a variable resistance only across the small cap to start with as that keeps it all blocking DC. If that doesn't do it, try the 2 caps across the pot wiper like Jimi says in that other thread but you might have to put a 3rd cap in series to block the DC. The danger if you don't block the DC of Q2 emitter then it could mess up the bias of Q1 and crackle when you turn the pot.
