I've started my first build using NOS/mojo parts, and have a couple of questions as to how these components should be handled. I've sourced some NOS AB 1/2w carbon comp resistors and russian K42Y PIO capacitors and being old parts the leads are a bit tarnished/surface rust - wound you recommend giving these a rub with some steel wool or something to prevent any bad solder joints?
Also, these components are physically quite large so I've laid out the components onto the vero board to see how everything is going to fit before I make any cuts or solder anything. As you can see in the pic, the resistors sit quite close to each other. With this layout it will fit into a 125B enclosure. If I add any more columns between these resistors I'll need to go up to a 1590BB enclosure - with the larger enclosure it probably won't get as much use since I don't have a lot of spare room on my board.
Any issues with how these are laid out?:

Don't use metal wool around electronics. Teeny fibers break off and cause trouble which can not be found.
+1 what PRR said about cleaning.
The spacing looks fine to me. Try and arrange your layout if you can so that you don't need to have the resistor legs so long since they're using up more space. But sometimes having a long resistor like that saves having to put a link wire in so it can work. Having the actual resistor bodies close together is no problem.
The big resistor is more like a 3W than a 1/2W!
I have some of those Russian caps too, haven't tried them yet myself. They certainly LOOK mojo.

;D yep close - there is one that is 2w (that's what the original specs are). I've built the same circuit using regular components so I'm keen to see if there is any noticeable difference with the mojo parts.
I might try and clean up the leads using some electronic contact cleaner and a scotchbrite scourer.

It's a Clark Gainster, I've sourced all of the components as per the original, getting all of the parts was the hard part, went through about 7 different suppliers. I've already built this circuit using regular components and sounds awesome. Thought i'd give it a go to try and build another one to the original specs (nos AB carbon comp resistors all 1/2w and 1 x 22k 2w, Nos russian pio 630v K42Y capacitors, Mallory 150 630 cap, National LF353N op amp, spague atom 50v 50uf cap, nos silver mica 120p cap, 1S1588 diodes, etc).
Except instead of being on fibre board and in a big box, I've made some changes to the tag board effects layout so it will fit into a 125b enclosure. I'm keen to put the two side by side and see if there are any noticeable differences, just for fun I've always wanted to do a mojo build!
