Title: Salvaging Visual Sounds Route 66
Post by: Bdrussell on March 12, 2020, 08:47:57 AM
So I've got an older route  66 that had a bad tone pot functioned fine other than the shaft moved and would not always make connections. So I replaced it but in the process the circuit board traces started falling apart. The issue I'm running into is every time i try to repair a trace it just breaks in another place. I like the pedal alot and would like to salvage it. Is there a better way to do this or would it be easier to just start over and do everything point to point?

This is the only picture I have right now. The pot I got had shorter terminals than the other but it was the only w20k pot I could find. Everytime I try to repair the traces they keep breaking.

Judging from traces condition, it shouldn't happen..

Try to use small lenght wire to connect pot lugs & respective traces away from lugs pads..

Also be careful not to use too much heat!  You can scrape away the green insulation with an Xacto knife or something to expose the copper, and use a small wire like Antonis said, but be cautious.
