Title: Help sourcing slider pots
Post by: threepwood on April 05, 2021, 06:37:04 AM
Hi all,

I've posted this on other pedal sites so apologies if you're getting bored of seeing it.

I'm looking to make an eq circuit that calls for a specific type of slide pots. These ones to be exact - https://www.taydaelectronics.com/ra3041f-b50k-ohm-linear-taper-slide-center-click-potentiometer.html

They're Alpha ones with a 30mm travel distance.

Unfortunately the only places that seem to stock them are Tayda and Mouser but both are out of stock.

Just wondering if anyone here had any they would be willing to part with or knew where else I might source them from?

Thanks and fingers crossed!

Googled this ra3041f-b50k and this company has them all. Know absolutely nothing about the company.

Octapart usually is a good search engine for parts suppliers but came up empty for these.

Thank you. I found PCBkey when searching but you can't buy from them straight from the site. You have to request a quote for the parts which makes me think that maybe they don't hold any stock. I've submitted a request though so we'll see.

Thanks again.

Yeah i wasn't sure, they say 68k in stock and Octapart usually turns up something, can't remember it ever coming up empty. Findchips is another helpful search but again nothing found.

On this page there are 3 different 50k center detent, few are dual and travel is 65mm but they might work?

Banzaimusic in Germany sells them, allthough on their webpage I only saw 100K with 30 mm (maybe a resistor in parallel to make it 50k....). Don't know your location but they do ship worldwide.

I don't know if you have tried yet not so....

Perhaps one of those is more widely available?

Just out of curiosity, is this a rack/table top device or a stompbox? I suggest rethinking faders on the floor. There are center detent "regular" pots that won't let all the dirt and dust and cat hair in. Not as cool, for sure, but most likely will last longer/work better. Also, 100x easier to drill a hole, fringe benefit.

I think there are two main reasons slide pots are used in audio:
Writing automation
Visual on multichannel levels/graphic eq
