Title: How do you read the markings on metal film resistors?
Post by: Chris Goodson on June 10, 2004, 11:12:01 AM
I recently ordered some of these from Mouser and the markings aren't quite what I'm used to seeing.

Hmm, well it would help to know what the marking is exactly :P

Search the board, plenty of info about markings in here.

Ciao.

If you're talking about reading 5-band metal film resistors, scroll down on this link and you'll find a calculator for 5-band metal film resistors.

Title: DMM

Identifiying any resistor's value doesn't get any easier than using the DMM to measure it's actual resistance.

Unless the resistor is in-circuit, then you'll have to read them. I always measure every cap and resistor before I solder them in. Takes a little more time, but saves headaches later.
