Title: Mid Boost for a guitar's tone control
Post by: nero1985 on July 07, 2004, 05:36:07 PM
hi, does anybody here knows how to give the tone control of the guitar a MID BOOST?? ive been experimenting with a PUSH/PULL pot on the tone control of my LES PAUL so that when its in the normal position (pushed down) the tone control will use  a .02mF (the standar value) and when its pulled it uses a smaller value (.0068mF), but now i wanna use it to give me a MID BOOST, i heard that something that something like that would be a Resistor and a Capasitor wired in parallel to ground but i still dont know what values to use, does anybody have an idea? or since i have an ON-BOARD PREAMP on my guitar does anybody knows how to modifie it to give me a MID BOOST?? this is where i found my preamp http://www.till.com/articles/GuitarPreamp/

Here is a few active circuits that I could find:

I think this could work with a guitar, too (passive):

Here's one that looks like could be adapted for a mid boost:

It's the one in very lower right corner.

Jack Orman has a redraw of the Anderton midrange booster at his site, but his site (htp://www.muzique.com) doesn't seem to be functioning at the moment.  That circuit is simple, quiet, and effective.  Most importantly, it functions as a resonant booster, NOT a bandpass filter, so it leaves the highs and lows intact and just affects the mid-band you're interested in.  Simple to build and switch, and pretty generous on batteries.

I have a question about this one: http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v324/caseyseffectpage/guitarbassboost.jpg

There is a 220K resistor connecting the input to the output. What the heck is that supposed to do?!? Otherwise, I think I like how it's supposed to work.
