I am curious what type of rigs everyone has. We all our at least somewhat builders and/or designers. Some for "need" and some for "want". Sometimes we want to beleive we "need" when we really just want...MORE. I searched and searched for my amp head and am completely happy with it. I love that tube tone with clarity and articulation. I generally like hard, heavy, deep tones but wanted versatility also. Anyway, to me my amp head is the ultimate heavy, deep, unique, articulate METAL tone as it's "Major" but it has an AWESOME crunch tone ranging from plexi to JCM800+. The cleans are awesome and with 4 channels I have all the versatility I need...yet I build fuzz, OD and distortion pedals out of pure love for variety and, well, building stuff and hearing the changes in mods. I don't know. Anyway, here is my rig:
*ENGL powerball 4 channel, 120 watt head.
*Charvel model 6 (neck-thru) w/EMG 81 and 2 single coils. (soon to replace the EMG with a Duncan JB.
*FX change daily with DIY stuff but use a Digitech RP100 for reverb only. (I gotta build a damn reverb tank!)
*Also have a Boss EQ double pedal thing and Boss Acoustic Sim that I use on some clean tones.
Post your rigs, my curiousity has been asking me to ask you guys.
1967 Fender Bassman - Blackface
2 x 8" custom speaker cab w/ handmade speakers - nice and light and sounds huge.
Tube Screamer
Nobels ODR-S
AMZ Mosfet Boost (DIY)

Most of the time I'm just straight amp - the pedals are mainly for texture.
In the process of fixing up a '72 Fender Quad Reverb and Traynor YSR-1 and also DIY Fuzz Face (again), Tone Bender and (coming soon) Blue Magic. So I may have a new rig in a few months. But for now I am very happy with the Bassman.

Crate P.O.S. 20 watt practice amp, with reverb and chorus. I don't ever use the chorus, but the reverb is decent.
Epiphone Explorer - black with gold hardware. So pretty.
Silicon Fuzz Face I built. I only use this with my Crate. At rehearsals I use my buddy's Valvestate, which does NOT like the fuzz face.
EA Trem I built, specially tweaked for MEGA DEPTH. :D

My current project is an all-inclusive OD pedal with a high z buffer running into one or the other of my two favorite drives (Barber DD and Crowther HotCake) followed by a clean boost. Basically, it's a 2-switch drive and boost pedal, with a toggle to choose between the two overdrives. Should cover a huge range of tones. That along with my fuzz face should cover everything I need in the way of distortion. FWIW, the boost channel will be wired in series and independantly of the drive channel, so you can use it as just a clean boost as well. I've also been thinking of including a side-chain between the two channels a la FoxRox Zim, so that I could insert effect post drive and pre boost! We'll see how ambitious I feel after building the circuits for the boost and the buffer! :D

a not so good pic but it is explained also. very interesting to see what others are using. i built the rack case myself and the quadrixers reverb is awesome. the onboard effects loop allows me to have total control of the effects PRE-guitar volume.ie. Effect On/Effects Off and tone controls and pickup selections. the unity gain buffer is inside the guitar and i have a stereo jack that goes to the effects then back into the guitar and finally out via another stereo jack (2nd contact decouples buffer when unplugged) to the the reverb then the amp. oh yeah, the unity gain buffer also allows me to use almost a eighty feet of cord with NO signal loss.enjoy. peace, waldo

I love the sound/thought of that OD pedal of yours. Just last night while laying in bed I decided to build a "Boost Factory" pedal which will include a rangemaster, mosfet booster, minibooster and LPB-1 on a rotary switch. I love the tone of an OC44 rangemaster driving a TS-808. Since I also plan to build a Blue Magic the all-inclusive OD thing is raising my brow....

filterazonatie - try using your murf with the filters defeated and just cranking the input section. A guy at a music store showed me this and it makes for a beautiful overdrive sound! Also, if you felt like opening it up to figure out what kind of input preamp design it uses . . . :D
My rig, in no particular order, since I move everything around constantly:
Various guitars, but my favorite is an Epiphone SG with SD pups - a JB on the bridge and a Jazz on the neck, with the Jazz split to a single coil with a bleed cap to let some treble through into the second coil - don't know why, but it sounds really good . . . (I need to transfer the set-up to a better guitar - I bought the SG for $90 to use as a testbed. Go figure)

Marshall MkII 50w [vintage reissue], greenbacks in Marshall V/R cab
amp 2
Dyna ST70 with 'clone yer own' AC30TB preamp
Amp 3
RCA Victor stereo amp 4 x EL84 output, and 5 other tubes [test/jam amp] All these are Tube amps.
Also 2 x 10'' speaker cab, and two, 2 x 12'' cabinets
Les Paul [Epiphone, 2nd fret redressing] w/PAF and Split Coil Dimarzio [neck].
Washburn with 3 SC pickups.
The MkII is an 'evil' amp, Hard Rock is it's forte'
The Dyna is much 'easier' and smoother sounding for clean, doesn't crunch like the MkII
The RCA is a well mannered nice sounding tube amp.
___________________________________________
I'm usually running some kind of FF type circuit, Reverb/Echo [Boss RV3]. For blues, 60's concert guitar and some hard rock, the FF [type] with the guitar rolloff has become a staple for me to use.
Since I have a FF 'divided' to switch to FuzzOctave perfectly [Tycho Octavia Pos Gnd.] I've been liking to have Ring Mod and Octave [does a mean fuzz sound, little or no octave with guitar up]. With these two only I can get from bright clean, through the blues tones, to hard rock to super saturated FUzz, Octave, Ring Mod...very nice for playing dynamically...switching a little and dialing from guitar...
Then there's the Uni-vibe/Phaze 90, one of these is also in the 'staple usage' category [used alot]].
Also I have a SS phazer with speed control on treadle pedal, very cool.
Liquid Drive takes over for the general hard rock, thick Distortion sound [DIST+Type] that I like. It may stray in values from shown schematic [Fuzz Central].
'Double Muff type thing' is the new contender, quite impressive, is in the FF position...for two days striaght now  .
Also I use
Big Muff Pi
Uglyface
18
Supreaux
6 stage Phazer
BlackFire
Obsidian
Dist+ [Fetzer hammers input]
oh...Jfet Stratoblasters I think there are 3 of these, either bringing a phazer to unity+ output, or hammering a Fuzz's input, also I have one on the 'other side of the bypass switch on the FF,...Clean or Boost can be had on the other side of the FF switch, so I can also use it to pump up the Tycho...havent't tried that yet. The Booster is on a Push Pull DPDT pot, on the other side the FF's stopmswitch, tycho also has it's DPDT.
May sound wired wierd, but I like it, 3 in 1 effects are nice, take extra tuning, maybe an 'extra' input gain control, nice and EZ to use, once they do what you want them to, only take 2 jacks one extra cable and PS.
Wah...I need to work up one of mine to kill, as it is they kill, but for the wrong reasons.

As I've gotten older...I'm more concerned with tone...and keeping it simple.
American Strat...modded = graphite saddles (I no longer break 4 strings a night). Neck shortened a millimeter...nut re-positioned (finally in perfect tune!). Switch to add the bridge PU to any combo. Tone controls removed (sounds SWEET!)
I have a '74 Twin...vibrato disabled.
A Blackstone Appliances Overdrive>Mosfet Boost>Rocket Fuzz>EA Trem.
Last 3 DIY of course.
On occasion...I drag out the old EH MM & Electric Mistress for run-away echos & an organ sound (Telestar)...but they suck tone badly.
When I do concerts w/The Turtles...Strats & a Twin are provided...I just bring the Blackstone. Their tunes are all clean...but sometimes we do Zepp & ZZ for fun.
Hmmm..

I do have a nice pic of the setup, but it was ripped off 'guitar geek', so I won't post the URL :)
Heres my setup for when i play bass (keyboard etc...) for one band:
small casio pt-100 keyboard -> whammy 4 -> Dan electro vibrato -> boss hyper metal -> ch1 of a simple mixer i made
spector bass (low end model, has an "emg-ssd" pick up) -> ch2 of the same simple mixer
microphone -> minidisc player -> ch3 of the mixer
THEN the OUT of the mixer -> digitech x series bass-synth -> bazz fuss (with a few changes) -> digetech delay (sometimes. rearly used though) -> boss ge-10 equalizer -> traynor YBA mkII -> ampeg 4 by 12.
This setup seems like a lot but its relatively simple once you start using it. I use the whammy on the keyboard mostly just to drop the pitch if i want to because its only a little 2 octave guy. (10 bucks!)
The band i use this in is mostly improvisation so have a range of effects is sometimes useful.
Also sometimes i run the mini disc player into the whammy. which is great when the samples are voice.
The only thing about this setup is that it dosnt use much of the things i have made. (just 3 items). But its always changing so maybe soon it will.
scott.
ive been using this one for a while:
usa tele x2, 52 RI tele, or 68 gretsch corvette-->
old crybaby wah w/ mods--> liquid drive--> rodent --> tube reamer--> meastro echoplex-->boss tu-2[to split my signal to the amps]
i play a 68 twin reverb, and a 1971 traynor ygl-1[basically a twin] stacked.
the traynor handles the lows/mids, and the twin on top does the mids/highs.
i play tele's but i stay on the neck p-up, i prefer a pretty "thick" tone.
i keep my main rig at a practice spot, but i will post a pic the next time i bring it home.

MXR Clone noise gate DIY just finished
And I am working on the DIY Tremulus Lune and some type of Compressor is next. Can’t play “I Need You†by Skynyrd without a compressor.
My Brain;
HP 1.8 gig hz, 256 mb, 60 GB with Music Creator 2003 and many extra music related software. If I need an extra musician, I just create a CD or program to take his/her place.
The playground;
A brand new 50x32 metal pole barn with concrete floor, insulated, heat, with closest neighbor about 800 ft and they like our music, next neighbor is out of site. Protected by undisclosed locks, alarm, and day/night vision monitor wireless to my work PC.
The final frontier;
I have about thirty musical instruments for which 23 are violins.
This is just a hobby gone wild and we are now looking for one and maybe even two rhythm guitarist that can play some lead as we are trying to finish a full set to start doing gigs. Just got our drummer, and she is real good, Bass player played in Country Band for 8years on the road, Buck Heth Band, Lead Singer needs work but he is coming along real well and he mixes our sets in between verses and he owns the barn. He is just now finding his sound and needs to not sing so loud and let the mike do the work. His style is just fine. I play lead and don’t mind sharing lead with a good rhythm player. Some songs leave no choice like a lot of Skynyrd which we love to play. I also play Fiddle, Bass, Keyboard, Drums, and basically anything I have ever wanted to play (there is more). I read and write music in all Clefts and have considerable formal training and music education. Tabs are like gold, if the tabs are good. I recommend that all the guitarist use tabs (if available) along with a CD and Slow Blast or Slow Gold for home work. Then, after the musician knows their part the way they are supposed to play it, improvising in the spirit of the original artist is welcome. We play anything that sounds good and have a tendency for Classic Rock. We have been together for one year and haven’t named the band yet but it looks like the name will be “63078†which is a zip code that no longer exists and has a lot of meaning to a few of us. It looks like we are going to loose our Chord Guitarist as he got married this summer and you figure out the rest. He still comes to practice occasionally, and brings his wife. All of us are around 40 but age is not an issue with us, willingness to learn and ability are. The most distracting thing we have ever ran into is guys that want to jam real loud, and also who keep jamming while the rest of us are trying to take a break and discuss the music. My brother, an excellent guitarist, does this and he is no longer part of the band.
That’s my set up and it keeps growing.

Main setup:
Carvin X-100B amp with a Boss VF-1 digital multi-effect unit running through the by-passable effects loop.
Stock Marshall 4x12 cabinet.
Ibanez 540S guitar w/EMG81 bridge pickup. Tone control removed and volume moved to tone's location to get it out of the way of my hand.
"Mako" BC Rich Bich - Japanese copy made in mid 80's w/EMG 81 pickup.
Boss Metal Zone.
Boss noise gate.
Boss PQ-4 parametric EQ pedal
Roland guitar synth.
Hornet fuzz.
Jimi Hendrix wah.
Some other stuff:
MXR Doubleshot distortion.
Dunlop Original Crybaby.
Boss DS-1 - soon to be modded.
Boss CS-3 compression pedal.
Behringer Ultra-G direct box.
Pro-Co Rat
(Gus Smalley)NPN Boost
ESP guitar
Alvarez 12 string acoustic. Ibanez acoustic.
+ a bunch of studio and synth gear...
Epiphone SG fitterd with a super distortion pick up at the bridge. Occasionally (if I break a string) use a Kay LP copy resprayed in fluorescent green with leopard spots and modded to have one volume only, no tone. Also occasionally a Hondo 2 LP copy sim to above but fluorescent pink leopard. Both standby guitars have replacement pick ups. Have an explorer which I love but the pick ups are too polite, I have used it mostly for recording clean sections.
Amps are either a Laney AOR 50 or AOR 100 into a 4x12 or 2x12 depending on the venue and if I can be bothered to pick up the 4x12 from the practice rooms. I find that the 50w amp has the better sound of the two as I can drive it harder.
Current pedal line up from amp to guitar is a Boss super chorus, home built jumbo tonebender clone, foxy lady clone, rangemaster clone (negative earth version). Also occasionally use Marshall Jackhammer and Snarling Dogs Black Dog (used at last recording sesssion).
At home use above or positive earth germanium tonebender clone, easy face and rangemaster clone into Laney hardcore 30 amp.
I have built numerous other pedals that I have not yet found a use for in the band situation such as a Metal effect pedal which makes a superb tremelo/vibrato at slow rates and an auto wah.
Bass player uses a home made super Bazz Fuzz which really drives her sound. She is currently using my Ibanez blazer bass as her Aria MAB 20 isbeing repaired after the headstock snapped. Her amp is a Laney 150W into a 4x10.
Our other guitarist uses a Carlsboro 80w combo with a Boss Distortion and a Danelectro chorus pedal (not sure which one).

anyway,
cleaning out the lab before my folks come to visit over new years....
I came across this Marshall 9000 series rack mount pre-amp that some had given me in exchange for a ride......said it was broken........."lights up but no sound..........
on the pile it went, that was like almost 2 years ago.
Anyway, I bet he was trying a dc power supply cuz this thing works great!
So as of today it's a realistic warehouse p.a. with the marshall pre-amp into a mesa/boogie 4x12, 100w open top/ 90w closed bottom, epi-paul custom straight in!

I like the blue LEDs on the dog. Snarling Dogs uses red ones on their pedals, and quite frankly, the blue ones shown here look better.
My "rig", for want of a better word, is like a soup du jour.
Primary guitars are a 64-ish Epiphone Coronet modded to within an inch of its life. (shown in picture #4 here: http://ampage.org/hammer/files/Danotech.pdf) and a Jay Turser Tele with a homewound Strat pickup added for that Nashville Tele thing. Other things are "in the works" but these two actually function right now. The Coronet's pickups are homebrew, and it has an on-board preamp. The Tele has a wiring scheme that achieves both Tele and Strat settings. Desparately needs a better neck pickup but a real comfortable play.
Primary amps are a tweed 59 Princeton with a JBL 8" instead of the Jensen it came with, a little 2w battery-operated portable shown here: http://ampage.org/hammer/files/Miniamp.zip, and a "real" 59 Bassman that actually doesn't get played very much at all. The Princeton is used to feed an 8" Leslie speaker. Started stripping down a cheapo 20W dual 6V6 head last night to turn into a Deluxe of some species, and drive that sweet old 12" Jensen I recently picked up. I'll believe it when I see it though.
Once there was a pedal-board, but now there is a hodge-podge of lots of things, and were I to gig it would be whatever is working now despite my irrepressible urge to mod and lose my place because of bed-time and interruptions. I guess a hastily assembled as-much-as-I-need board would consist of my trusty modified Anderton TSF, a modified Anderton Bi-Filter follower, an MXR Envelope filter, a Boss BF-1 flanger, a Line 6 Echo Park, and my homebrew wah. I suppose there should be a compressor in there somewhere too.
I like guitar cables that are no more than 10' long.

No, not at the moment, but I'm sitting at home playing through it right now and having a blast doing crazy harmonics and changing feedback registers, all at a reasonably low volume.
It's a little too outrageous for my little candy-ass cover band.

My brother is a luthier, so my main instruments are both built by him - an ash thinline (semi hollow) tele with handwound tele pickups, and a solid mahogany tele w/ handwound split humbuckers and series/parallel switches for each one.

Since this got dug...I'ts amazing how much I've changed since I typed it.
Here's what I typed:
amp 1
Marshall MkII 50w [vintage reissue], greenbacks in Marshall V/R cab

Dyna ST70 with 'clone yer own' AC30TB preamp
Amp 3
RCA Victor stereo amp 4 x EL84 output, and 5 other tubes [test/jam amp] All these are Tube amps.

I'm using Tweed Deluxe[s, [built a couple 5e3's] a clone or two, ea.w/2x12'' GB cab.

I hear ya with the Sigma acoustic... I've got a Sigma HDR-24H that I bought just to have an acoustic that I could travel with... turns out that it is one of the most amazing sounding acoustics I've ever heard.... sound guys are always saying its the best sounding acoustic they've worked with.
I even did an acoustic show with another 'national artist' a year ago. He brought his own guitar (high end McPherson) and wound up switching to my guitar half-way through his set because he thought it sounded better.
Jim
Jayco I've had similar comments from sound guys etc. I cant remember what the model number of mine is, must of had it for around 10 years plus. Got some Elixar strings on it and everyone who plays it is blown away.

ok, time for a bass player to represent:
Ibanez SR405 5 string w/ Dimarzio X2N guitar pickup sandwiched in between the stock soapbars. Adds a really warm low-mid hump and TONS of output for overdriving things...
Budda Zenman distortion w/ mullards -> loop pedal -> TSA (in the tsa loop: PT-80 clone, Line 6 Liqui-flange, DOD super stereo chorus (modded of course), Uglyface)-> back to return of loop pedal -> BBE preamp -> QSC RMX 2450 2400 watt power amp-> ampeg 8x10 and 2x15.
Yeah it's loud! And really annoying when i get the TSA going... i like to get that started at shows where people hate us.

I can't even remember if I posted here before, but WTH, it's probably all changed ince then, anyway, so here goes. Keep in mind that I am now at or near the "more is more" , or "if Gilmour can have it why can't I?", pole in my gear swing. It will swing back--or not. Tdhe current rig:

The Valvetronix I use the most. The Fender Pro Junior I use for testing and practice (I fried one of the screen resistors and I haven't gottenaround to replacing it yet and the power tubes). I miss the Pro. The Fender M-80 I usally loan out to people in a bind, it also works well as an Acoustic amp. I love the Little Gem MKII (thanks ROG), it blows people away and it sounds better than any SS amp I have owned IMHO it behaves much like a tube amp :)
I play Comtemporary Christian music mostly. Christian rock if I can find enough people who want to play this kind of stuff. Used to play 70s & 80s Heavy Metal back in the 80s. Sure is different from what is considered metal today. I really love the blues and blues rock.

Usually run this into two channels on the clubs pa. At home I run one signal to a Samick LA40R, a shitty SS amp with an OK clean channel.
Right now I'm working on a Fetzer-ruby for home practice, a orange squeezer to put first on the pedalboard, and a tremulus lune. I will also replace the danelectros with two OD's and a Dr.Boogey or an Obsidian.
