Title: Painting Enclosure
Post by: tatems on March 30, 2005, 07:26:59 AM
I'm just about to put my very first circuit in its enclosure. I want to know if i need to use primer for the aluminium enclosure or can i just spray paint it the colour i want? I'm using enamel paint for some of this, will this work without primer?

Your best off if you use a self-etching metal primer first. That way, your primer coat will bond to the aluminum, and your color coat will adhere to the primer coat. A color coat straight on the Aluminum won't adhere, and will soon peel or chip off.
