Title: Proctavia Mod?
Post by: Bearded Fish on July 20, 2005, 09:56:38 AM
Anyone know if it's possible to install a toggle switch to switch between just the fuzz sound and the fuzz-octave sound in the Voodoo Lab Proctavia? The Fulltone Octafuzz has this feature I believe. I'm not good enough to tell where to put such a switch just by looking at the schematic but I'd have no problem actually fitting it in the pedal. Can someone help me as I think this would be a worthy mod to do to this pedal. Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

I think there's a 'Tychobrahe Fuzz' in layouts section, showing an Octavia with no transformer in it.
If the Proctavia uses a transformer/diodes on the tail end, this mod should work for it.
I've never done it, seems like one could simply 'SPST..across the Tranny/diodes, or DPDT bypass them.

I've found on Fuzz Central under the Tycobrahe Octavia build that you can put a SPST in series with one of the diodes after the transformer to act as an octave switch (http://fuzzcentral.tripod.com/octavia.html).

:?: A question though... Can you see any problem with putting the SPST 'across' the diode instead, effectively shorting it?

This would be simpler and neater to do as a mod to an already built pedal.

Maybe it would be better still if you have a DPDT where one diode would be switched out while the other diode gets shorted?
