Title: Some help Cloning the EH Echoflanger.
Post by: nelson on August 06, 2005, 09:36:43 AM
I have hit a snag cloning the Echoflanger.  :( The "multi effect" delay, chorus, flanger and "filter matrix" pedal.

The PCB pattern that Stephen giles posted that I have been working with doesnt seem to match the schematic I have. The cd4009 and cd4013, the way they are laid out doesnt match the schem.

Perhaps I am missing something with the switching??

I have converted my progress to a PDF file which can be looked at here

for those that dont have the schematic who could possibly help me it is here

Any help, comments new questions etc are most welcome.

I am also looking for a site to host this once its verified.

And finally I am trying to source some rev log 2M pots.

Can anyone help me?

  :)

ok snag overcome, the CD4009 on the schem has been replaced by a CD4049 in the actual pedal.

Thanks ToneB!

and: NEVER trust a schem on the web;
AND:

Never trust a layout on the web!

(even when it is, or looks like a factory draw!!!)

btw: I seldom type 3 explanation marx...

Sound advice puretube.

It is somewhat accurate, manufacturing needs appear to have replaced one minor aspect of the design!!!.  My redraw of the schematic will be the *only* one that is available publically, that is accurate :). Its only taken 28 years.....

Recently looked at an EH Memory Man Deluxe that had an unsoldered  chip between the MN3005(s) and the clock circuit - the PCB layout indicated it was probably a CD4049.... put in a  4049 and it worked. Another case of the actual EH unit not matching the schematics on the web.
Cheers, Mike

Mike, I'm sure I saw a memory man circuit which included a 4049, with a note that it was only included in models shipped up to a certain date - probably late 70s or early 80s.
