Hey there
I have just ordered the parts and RTS board for the MXR microamp. And I can't wait to get on with my first project. I haven't recieved any of it yet, but it has come to my attention that I haven't ordered a LED for it. So I have a couple of questions about that. Is it correct to assume that with a DPDT switch I'll need a millenium bypass to put a LED in the board? If yes, will a 3PDT switch do the trick without the mill bypass? What kind of LED should I use for it? And lastly, what kind of wiring should I use?
I hope these Q's doesn't come off too noob'ish. I have searched around the forum for a while, and I have become a bit wiser I think. But I feel I need specific answers to these questions.
Anyway, what a great forum this is. People are talking really nicely to eachother, and are being very helpful.
Regards
Kræn
All together, a LED is an optional thing if you really can't be bothered to add it (but LEDs are cool so do it anyway :D)

-yes
If yes, will a 3PDT switch do the trick without the mill bypass?
-also yes
What kind of LED should I use for it?
-doesn't matter really, up to personal choice on what looks cool (but everbody loves ultrabright blue ones :D), the only thing you end up changing is the resistor (I've seen from 1kohm to 4.7kohm depending on the type of LED)
And lastly, what kind of wiring should I use?
-err for the 3dpt?

I think 5mm LED's seem to be the norm for indicator lights. At least, that's what I use.

Well yes I guess, but I mean in general which cable/wire is fit for electronics?
22 or 24 AWG seems to be what everyone uses. I use a 22 AWG white pretinned silver coated wire. Probably overkill for effects building, some say. I ordered it by mistake off mouser. The roll was $22, and i am not that pleased with it. I mean, Yes, i never had it break, Yes it is strong, but it is also NOT every flexible, It makes you put alot of time into making your wiring neat. Or it ends up sloppy
I use this stuff it awsome -esp for the price..its tinned and flexable..
24 Gauge Stranded Hookup Wire, tined
Mouser
602-3050-100-03
last 2 digits=color
its 10$
also smallbear has some tinned thats 22 guage i think..Its nice too..
