Title: OC170 and AC173 (ge), what can I use them in?
Post by: Herr Masel on November 27, 2005, 07:33:21 AM
I (accidently) discovered the place I buy components from has germanium transistors, I thought they didn't,  so I picked some up, they are pretty cheap too. Like I said there are OC170, AC173, which I got, thinking I could use them but I'm not sure. He also has quite a few AFxxx, but I read they don't normally sound too great. I searched and saw the OC170 mentioned in a rangemaster thread, other than that nothing.

Here's the OC170 with some info, could be a standard PNP tranny for perhaps a
rangemaster - as you said.
Googled etc but found nothing about the AC173, so don't know if it's NPN or PNP !

Yea I've seen that ebay auction when I searched about the OC170 before but reading the data doesn't tell me much about what it would work in. I'll start reading up on some datasheets and see if it resembles anything, or I'll just stick it in the breadboard. Thanks.
