Very interesting. Your build reminds me a kind of hi-tech rifle that you see in some movies :P. I'm waiting for the new project.

Super cool, if it works. Maybe a band could use this to ask some questions from the back row people, or they could sing along, if the P.A. does not feed back too much, just attach a narrow beam spotlight to the "sound gun" so they know when they are miked... I always have wanted to record birds in the early summer morning... maybe a dynamic mic does the trick.
