Title: bc109b ?
Post by: Doc001 on January 14, 2006, 02:40:10 PM
Hello,
First timer here. I'm modding a vox wah reissue v847. Just got some bc109b transistors. Was wondering what hFE I should be lookin' ta' use use? They range anywhere from 80hFE - 278hFE.

I like the BC109C; higher gain is better.  Just pay attention to the pinout of the original transistor (look it up on, like Mouser or something); it may be different from the BC109!

Skreddy,
Couldn't find any 109c's. It has mpsa18 in it now. Got the pinouts straight. But when I tested the 109 in my multimeter for hFE I wasn't sure what hFE value would be best to use.

I think 400 - 500 hfe is good in a wah.  For example, a 2N5088 with a gain of about 500 like the Central Semiconductor model, Mouser 610-2N5088

BC109C's are not that hard to find.

...or how about the MPSA18...  :P

Thanks for the quick replies Mr. Skreddy.
