Title: What is the life of a germanium transistor??

I have some 2n388a .....That where really sounding good two years ago..Well I decided to build a fuzz circuit the other day and they are crap now..All of them..I had maybe 40
They would make you cry two years ago with the gain and sound... now... They wont work in any kind of fuzz circuit..They where in my garage for two years!!!

Spooky. I have a number of them (not many) but I see no reason why they wouldn't work after a number of years.
